WTC Final 2023: The pair of Steve Smith and Travis Head broke the 111 year old record

Smith and Head broke 111 year old record: In the final of the World Test Championship, India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Australia scored 469 runs in the first innings at the loss of 10 wickets. In such a situation, two Australian batsmen scored centuries in the final of the championship. Travis Head and Steve Smith played brilliant innings for their team.

WTC Final 2023: Broke many records :-

Steve Smith scored 121 runs in 268 balls with 19 fours and on the other hand, Travis Head played a dangerous innings of 163 runs in 174 balls with 25 fours and a six. There was a partnership of 285 runs between the two batsmen. Along with this, both the batsmen made many new records.

Broke 111 years old record :-

The pair of both has created history by breaking the 111-year-old record. In fact, Smith and Head broke the 111-year-old record for the highest partnership by an Australian pair for any wicket in a neutral Test. In 1912, Warren Bardsley and Charles Callaway added 242 runs for the third wicket against South Africa at Lord’s Cricket Ground, which has been broken today by the partnership of Smith and Head.

Australia’s big partnership innings: –

Bardsley and Callaway then shared a 202-run partnership in a neutral Test in Manchester in May 2012. Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting then scored 184 against Pakistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, which came very close to Bardsley and Callaway’s record, but failed to break it.

With this, Travis Head missed breaking the 111-year-old record by 2 runs in his individual score. Warren Bardsley holds the record for the highest score of 164 runs for a team at Lord’s against South Africa at a neutral venue in 1912, one step away from being broken by Travis Head at The Oval
