Virat Kohli in Asia Cup 2023: Just a day before the start of the Asia Cup 2023, former India skipper Virat Kohli said that the ODI format has always brought out the best in him. The Asia Cup will be a trial run for the Indian team ahead of the 2023 ICC World Cup. In between the Asia Cup and the World Cup, India will also play a three ODI series against Australia.

Kohli told Star Sports, “I love playing ODI cricket. I think for me, ODI cricket is probably the format that tests your game to the fullest. Your technique, composure, patience, understanding of the situation, and playing differently in different phases of the game.”

“So, I think it tests you completely as a batsman and I think ODI cricket has always brought out the best in me because I got to accept that challenge and help my team win,” he added. In ODIs, Kohli has an excellent record of averaging 66 when batting at number two and 48 when batting at number one. His 50-over career so far includes 46 centuries, of which 26 have come during run-chase. He holds the record for scoring the most centuries while batting in the second innings in ODIs.
