Gill made his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in season 2016–17 (25 February 2017). He made his debut in first-class cricket on 17 November. Gill went on climbing the ladder of success on his own.

Gill made his international debut (ODI) on 31 January 2019, playing against New Zealand. He then made his Test (2020) and then T20 (2023) debut.
