Indian opener Shubman Gill is celebrating his 24th birthday today. He is currently in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup, where Team India will take on Pakistan on Sunday. Asia Cup is being played in the ODI format.

His father also wanted to become a cricketer but could not succeed in it, so he thought of making his son Gill a cricketer and was successful in it.

He had already sensed his son’s interest and ability in cricket and decided to send him to an academy.

They lived on rent near the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium:-

Then he along with his family started living on rent near the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

Gill made his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in season 2016–17 (25 February 2017). He made his debut in first-class cricket on 17 November. Gill went on climbing the ladder of success on his own.

Gill made his international debut (ODI) on 31 January 2019, playing against New Zealand. He then made his Test (2020) and then T20 (2023) debut.

The day of 18 January 2023 is memorable for Gill, on this day he made a world record in ODI cricket. Gill became the youngest player to score a double century in ODIs.

Anyway, only 8 players in the world have been able to score a double century in this format, and among them, 5 players including Gill are Indians.
