India 15th consecutive series win at home

India beat Sri Lanka 2-0 to record their 15th consecutive series win at home. Since 2012 till now, India has not lost any Test series on its soil. England defeated India for the last time. The captain of that team was Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Since then the conquest of India continues. No other team has performed like this. Australia is at number two. Kangaroo team has won 10 consecutive test series twice.

Pant breaks 40 year old record

Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh played a strong half-century and broke a 40-year-old record. He completed his fifty off 28 balls and became the batsman to score the shortest-ball fifty in Test cricket for India. He broke the Indian record held by former India captain Kapil Dev (30 balls). Kapil made this record against Pakistan in Karachi in December 1982. Pant hit seven fours and two sixes in his innings. Apart from this, Pant also took the record of fastest half century by a wicketkeeper in Test cricket.

Ravichandran Ashwin beats Dale Steyn

Ashwin took 4 wickets in the second innings and 6 in the match. As soon as Dhananjaya was disposed of as the fourth wicket, he went ahead of Dale Steyn in the matter of taking wickets. South African pacer Steyn had 439 wickets to his name in 93 Tests, playing his last Test match in 2019. Ashwin surpassed him in his 86th Test match. However, Steyn is better than Ashwin in terms of average and strike rate.

Iyer’s half-centuries in both innings of Day-Night Test

February’s ICC Player of the Month cricketer Shreyas Iyer created fifty-root history in both the innings of the match. He has become the first Indian batsman to do such a feat. Shreyas Iyer may have missed a century in the first innings, but his 92 runs (98 balls, 10 fours and 4 sixes) in adverse conditions are no less than a masterpiece. After this, in the second innings too, he played a brilliant innings of 67 runs in 87 balls with the help of 9 fours.

Bumrah equals Kapil’s record

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah equaled the legendary Indian pacer Kapil Dev by taking five wickets in the first innings. Bumrah took the eighth overall and took five wickets for the first time in India. Bumrah equals Kapil in taking five wickets in innings for the most times in 29 or fewer Tests. Bumrah has now taken 120 wickets in 29 Tests, the 18th most by an Indian bowler. Along with this, 300 wickets have also been completed in his international cricket.

Virat averages below 50

Virat Kohli had scored his last international century in the Day-Night Test against Bangladesh in Kolkata. Fans hoped that in this Pink Test, he would end the drought of century. In the first innings of this Test against Sri Lanka, he was dismissed for 23 runs while in the second innings he could score only 13 runs. With this the wait for his century got longer. The drought has had an impact on his test average, which has dropped below 50 for the first time since 2017. His Test average now stands at 49.95.
