Afghanistan Under-19s to tour Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Friday (September 3) announced the revised schedule of the next home series against Afghanistan Under-19s. As already known, the series is set to be rescheduled. Afghanistan Under-19s will now play five one-dayers and four-day matches due to their 24-day stay in Bangladesh. This will be the first Afghanistan team to play international cricket in any form since the takeover of the Taliban.

According to the new schedule, the five-match youth ODI series will start on September 10 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. While the remaining four matches will be on September 12, 14, 17 and 19 respectively. The four-day one-off match will be at the same venue from September 22-25.

Afghanistan Under-19 to Reach Dhaka on 4 September :

The Afghanistan Under-19s will reach Dhaka on 4 September. Then fly to Sylhet the same day. They will be in quarantine for three days, two days before the first one-day exercise on September 10.

Afghanistan U19 squad members played against the senior men’s squad in inter-squad practice games in Kabul to prepare for the series. The Afghanistan U-19 cricket team will travel to Islamabad via bus after staying in Peshawar, then to Karachi on a flight and from there to Qatar and Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Defending U-19 Champions will Play Their First Series Post COVID :

Bangladesh, the defending Under-19 champions, will play their first series post COVID. Because all their programs and fixtures affected due to the pandemic. The team is preparing for the next edition of the Under-19 World Cup. Which is to be played in the Caribbean next year.

Earlier, Afghanistan had also postponed its tour of Pakistan.
