African veteran apologized to Dravid: Former South African fast bowler Allan Donald has apologized to Indian coach Rahul Dravid for his 25-year-old mistake. Along with this, he has also offered Dravid to accompany him for dinner. Dravid has also accepted the offer and has said that if Donald pays, he is ready to go for dinner together.

Allan Donald had abused Rahul Dravid during the tri-series in 1997 :-

In 1997, India was having a tri-series between South Africa and Zimbabwe. The last match of this series was between India and South Africa. The African team had scored 278 runs, but due to rain, India had a target of 252 runs in 40 overs.

Sourav Ganguly was out early, but Sachin and Dravid stitched a brilliant partnership to put South Africa in trouble. Especially Dravid scored 84 off 94 balls and also became the player of the match.

Alan Donald was anxious to break up the pair. In such a situation, he had said some abusive words to Rahul Dravid. However, Dravid was later dismissed and South Africa won the match by 17 runs. After this match, Donald tried to talk to Dravid, but the Indian team was very angry and no one was ready to talk to Donald.

Recalling this incident, Allan Donald said: –

Recalling the incident, Donald said “There was a bad incident in Durban which I don’t want to talk about. He (Rahul Dravid) and Sachin were scoring runs all over us. I had crossed my limits. I have nothing but respect for Rahul.”

I want to go out and sit with Rahul and say sorry again to him for what happened that day. All I had to do was do something silly that actually cost him his wicket. But I still apologize for what I said that day. So Rahul Dravid, if you’re listening. I’d love to spend an evening with you.”
