Fast bowler Agarkar has won many matches for Team India on his own but he also has a big record in his name while batting and even the great batsman Sachin Tendulkar could not achieve that feat.

Agarkar holds the record for scoring the fastest ODI half-century

The record of scoring the fastest half-century in ODI cricket is not in the name of Sehwag, Sachin, or Ganguly but in the name of Agarkar. No Indian batsman has been able to break this big record of Agarkar to date. Agarkar scored a half-century in 21 balls against Zimbabwe, in this innings, he hit 7 fours and 4 sixes.

Agarkar remained ahead of Sachin

Ajit Agarkar created history on 25 July 2022 at Lord’s Cricket Ground, he played a brilliant century. Even great batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar and Ponting could not score centuries at Lord’s, Agarkar did that. Agarkar scored 200 wickets and 1000 runs in the fewest ODI matches, breaking Shaun Pollock’s record.

With the help of Agarkar, India achieved such a feat after 20 years

In the year 2003, when India won the Adelaide Test match in Australia after 20 years, Agarkar made a big contribution to the victory of this Test. The Australian team, which scored a mountain-like score of 556 runs in the first innings, was reduced to just 196 runs by Agarkar’s lethal bowling in the second innings. Agarkar took 6 wickets for 41 runs. In this way, Team India won the match.

Ajit Agarkar Cricket Career

Ajit Agarkar started his international cricket career in 1998. He made his debut in 1998 in a Test against Zimbabwe, followed by an ODI against Australia in 1998. He also made his T20 debut towards the end of his career. Agarkar has played 4 T20 International matches.

Agarkar has played 26 Tests, 191 ODIs, and 4 International T20 matches. In these, he has taken 58, 288 and 3 wickets respectively. Batting in the same order, Agarkar scored 571, 1269, and 15 runs.

Presently Ajit Agarkar is the Chief Selector of BCCI. For this post, he gets a salary of Rs 1 crore.
