Andrew Symonds: Big disclosure about Andrew Symonds, fellow player said – wanted to play for England

Andrew Symonds: The new coach of England’s T20 and ODI team, Matthew Mott, has revealed that the late Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds thought of playing for England as he had a UK passport. Symonds, 46, died in a car accident in Queensland, Australia, earlier this month.

Mott told at the Public Memorial Service for the late cricketer Andrew Symonds :-

As reported by cricket365.com, ” Symonds certainly considered it (for England). Mott told former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Ian Healy at the public memorial service for the late cricketer on Friday. .

When Mott was asked about the offer the Birmingham-born cricketer received in late 1995; he said, “It (the offer) was very tempting for him; basically he had a good opportunity and his parents too. Was from there. But he was eager to play for Australia because it was his childhood dream.”

Due to the scintillating performance of 19-year-old Symonds, he was offered to play in the England A team for the tour of Pakistan.

In fact, county team Gloucestershire signed Andrew Symonds as a non-overseas player. Then 19-year-old Symonds scored four centuries in the season. Then he offered to play in the England A team to tour Pakistan.

Andrew Symonds played a bang in his first county match :-

In his first county match, Andrew Symonds hit 16 sixes in his 254 not out against Glamorgan in August 1995; until England’s Test captain Ben Stokes broke the record earlier this month while playing for Durham. About this it has been said in the report.

Symonds declined an offer to play for the team captained by Nasser Hussain and announced to play for Australia instead. He joined their A team a year later.

Andrew Symonds’ former Australia teammate Darren Lehmann said England remained the late cricketer’s favorite destination. Lehmann said, “He loved touring England, loved playing there. Symonds was the best player I had ever coached. Lehmann coached Symonds when the pair was with the Indian Premier League team Deccan Chargers.
