Announcement of latest rankings, Root and Pant benefit, big blow to Virat Kohli

ICC Test Rankings: England batsman Joe Root has gained in the latest ICC Test rankings after winning the Edgbaston Test against India chasing a mammoth target of 378 runs. Along with Joe Root, Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has also jumped in the latest ranking of batsmen on the basis of his century in the first innings. At the same time, India’s legendary batsman and Virat Kohli, who has not scored a single century for almost three years, has suffered a setback. He is out of the top-10.

Joe Root has retained his place as the top batsman in the latest ICC batsmen rankings. Root now has 932 ratings points and he is 44 ratings points ahead of second-ranked Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne. Apart from this, India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has also jumped in the ICC rankings after scoring 146 runs in the first innings of Edgbaston Test.

India’s best batsman Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant has jumped six places to the fifth position in the latest ICC Test rankings. Rishabh Pant is currently the top batsman in Indian Test cricket. Earlier, Rishabh Pant had achieved his best Test ranking between March and August last year, when he rose to the seventh position in the Test rankings for batsmen.

Big blow to Virat Kohli

If we talk about Team India’s star batsman and former captain Virat Kohli, then he has to bear the brunt of his poor form in the rankings as well. After a long time, Virat Kohli has been dropped from the list of top-10 batsmen in the ICC Test Rankings. He performed poorly in both the innings of the Edgbaston Test and scored a total of 31 runs.

Bairstow enters top-10

On the other hand, Jonny Bairstow of England, who scored a brilliant century in both the innings of Edgbaston Test, has also made a big jump in the ICC Test rankings. He has jumped 11 places to occupy the 10th position. Talking about other Indian batsmen, Cheteshwar Pujara has jumped three places to 24th and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has gained eight places to be at 34th position.
