Asia Cup 2022: A major setback for Pakistan before the Asia Cup, Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 due to injury.
Injured right knee while fielding during Test:-
In the coming international tournament, the entire team of Pakistan was completely dependent on his bowling. Shaheen injured his right knee while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle last month.

Star Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 and the home series against England due to fitness issues, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement today.
After the latest scans and reports, the PCB Medical Advisory Committee and independent experts have advised him to take rest for 4-6 weeks, the statement said.
New Zealand is expected to return to the T20I tri-series in October:-
Afridi is expecting to return to competitive cricket with the New Zealand T20I tri-series in October, which will be followed by the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022.
Shaheen injured his right knee ligament while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
The PCB’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Najibullah Soumro, said: “I have spoken to Shaheen and he is deeply disturbing by the news, but he is a brave young man who vowing to return strongly to serve his country and team.”
They will need more time:-
Although Sumro said he has made progress during his rehabilitation at Rotterdam, it is now clear he will need more time and is likely to return to competitive cricket in October.
“The PCB’s Department of Sports and Exercise Medicine will work closely. With the player over the coming weeks to ensure his safe return to competitive cricket.”

Shaheen will be with the team to complete his rehabilitation.
His replacement for the ACC T20 Asia Cup will be announcing shortly. The Pakistan side will reach Dubai from Rotterdam on Monday.
