Asia Cup Winners List: Asia Cup is the only tournament in the world based on competitions between countries of one continent. India has always outplayed other nations by playing 10 finals out of a total of 14 finals. India has participated in 13 editions, although once skipped and out of a total of 14 editions, India has won a total of 7 cups.

After India, Sri Lanka has won Asia Cup for the most number of times :-

And out of the rest, Sri Lanka won 5 and Pakistan won the cup twice. Initially, it was a competition between three nations, but later the Asia Cup expanded to become the six-team tournament it is today. They are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Asia Cup is considered as a flexible tournament :-

It is considered a flexible tournament because its style changes according to the schedule of other major tournaments, for example, since 2008, it is held every alternate year and from 2016, it alternates with any upcoming majors. Held between ODI and T20I.

This year, it is being organized in the T20 format so as not to affect the performance of the teams in the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year, as it is the next big cricket tournament. And next year, it is to be played in a one-day format in the lead-up to the ODI World Cup in India.

This is the 15th edition of the Asia Cup which has started in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from August 27, 2022. This year it is being played in T20 format.

The last time Bangladesh was defeated by India in the final held in UAE in 2018. But since then it took a long time to decide the host or date for the next tournament due to various constraints. Of course, two years – 2020 and 2021 – were affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But Pakistan was the real host of the Asia Cup in 2020 as it was its turn.

Due to the changed geopolitical conditions, India would not tour Pakistan for a cricket tournament and given that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was forced to hand over the responsibility of hosting the event to Sri Lanka. So the 15th edition of Asia Cup is scheduled for 2022. Sri Lanka will have a total timetable for the Asia Cup 2022.
