Australia has confirmed major changes in its T20 team on Tuesday. Six World Cup stars in the team are returning home from India in the middle of the 5-match series. Travis Head, who scored a match-winning century in the World Cup 2023 final. He is the only batsman who was part of the World Cup squad to continue in the T20I series.

Australia confirmed changes to their team on Tuesday, November 28, hours before the third T20 match of the series at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.

Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott, and Josh Inglis will leave the team after the third T20 match in Guwahati

Steve Smith recently confirmed his availability for the Big Bash League opener with Sydney Sixers on December 8. He has already returned home along with leg-spinner Adam Zampa ahead of the third T20I in Guwahati. On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott, and Josh Inglis will leave the team after the third T20 match in Guwahati.

Raipur will host the fourth T20 match on December 1. The final T20 match will be played in Bengaluru on December 3.

Travis Head expected to play in third T20I

Notably, Josh Inglis scored a century against India in the first T20I in Visakhapatnam, which Australia lost despite posting 208 on the board. Travis Head has not played in the T20 series so far but is expected to make his place in the playing eleven in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Phillip and Ben McDermott already included in the team in Guwahati

Cricket Australia said wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Philippe and big hitter Ben McDermott have already joined the squad in Guwahati. They are available for selection for the third T20 match.

It said that left-arm fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis and spinner Chris Green will join the team after the third T20 match.

The reason for the return of star players is not confirmed

Australia did not confirm the reason for the withdrawal of its star players midway through the series, but it is understood that the World Cup stars were tired after a long tournament.

India is leading 2-0 in the 5-match series.
