The umpire announced the end of the game without even checking the light meter and it started raining shortly thereafter. Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan appeared disappointed with this decision and criticized the stoppage of play due to such reasons. The former England captain suggested that the game should continue with the pink ball.

Pink balls are more visible in low light :-

This incident sparked discussion about the use of pink balls to allow play to continue despite bad light. Khawaja expressed strong opposition to the idea, stressing the historical importance of the red ball in Test cricket.

According to the report of Nine.com.au, Usman Khawaja said, “If it is so then I am retiring.” According to me this is not the right (option). The red ball is very different. I play white ball. I play pickup ball and they all react differently. But there is nothing like red ball. But I do not make laws nor do I make those rules.
