Australian Fast Bowler Scott Boland Meets Indigenous Students At Red Centre

Australia pacer Scott Boland meets Indigenous students at the Red Centre, Boland has worked side-by-side with Indigenous students at the Red Center in the Northern Territory as part of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy tour.

Visited Uluru as Part of an international tour:-

The Gulijn man visited Uluru as part of the trophy’s domestic and international tour, where he played red dirt cricket with the students of Nyangjatjara College in Uluru.

With one of Australia’s most iconic cultural venues as a backdrop, Boland said the experience of playing Red Dirt cricket was a first for him.

“I’ve never played a game of cricket on red clay. So it was great to bowl to some kids who haven’t played much cricket in their lives before,” he said.

Advantages of both Indigenous Australian cricketers:-

“Giving him some wisdom was a fascination and something I will never forget.”

Boland said it was important to bring cricket to remote communities across Australia for the benefit of both the sport. And the next generation of Indigenous Australian cricketers.

“I think it’s really important to develop the game of cricket,” he said.

“The more we can go to those remote areas where cricket. Isn’t the number one sport like it is in the big cities. To give those kids a chance to play and learn what it is.

More indigenous children through the routing system:-

“(This is) how we’re going to get more indigenous children through the routing system.”

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Local Organizing Committee chief executive Mitchell Enright said. Indigenous inclusion was an important part of the multicultural approach to the T20 World Cup.

“The visit to Uluru supports our objective of bringing generations and cultures together for the T20 World Cup,” he added.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be played from October 16 to November 13 this year. With 16 international teams taking part in matches in Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.

The final match will be played on Sunday, 13 November at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
