Mooney’s form during the Commonwealth Games:-

Mooney’s form was a major factor behind Australia’s unbeaten run during the recent Commonwealth Games in Birmingham that won them the gold medal.

His efforts were rewarded as he overtook Lanning at the top of the proceedings.

The ICC on Tuesday released the latest set of rankings and Mooney’s return to the top and India’s young Jemima Rodrigues’s massive jump into the top 10 was one of the many exciting moves in the aftermath of the thrilling Commonwealth Games tournament.

It made the 28-year-old jump from Lanning:-

Mooney was the leading run-scorer in the tournament for her country with 179 runs in five innings and it allowed the 28-year-old to leapfrog Lanning and claim top billing, losing to her captain last month.

Ecclestone’s experienced teammate Katherine Brunt has moved up one place to second, while South African pacer Shabnim Ismail (4th) and Australia pacer Megan Schutt (5th) is up two places each.

New Zealand’s veteran Sophie Devine continues to lead the latest ranking of all-rounders after another consecutive tournament for her country at the Commonwealth Games.

The evergreen 32-year-old scored the second most runs for the tournament (177) behind only Mooney and took six valuable wickets to help the White Ferns reach the bronze medal.
