Australia’s Rachael Haynes Rejoined Sydney Thunder WBBL

Australia’s vice-captain Rachael Haynes has rejoined Sydney Thunder for the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

Sydney Thunder’s all-time leading run scorer:-

Haynes, who is Sydney Thunder’s all-time leading run scorer, led the club to victories during the 2020-21 season. The 35-year-old batsman missed the next season after suffering an injury during a match against Australia.

He then took personal leave for the birth of his child with partner Leah Poulton. Haynes’ return to the WBBL, however, was blocked by various COVID-19 related border restrictions at the time.

Haynes 78 not out in 85 matches for Sydney Thunder:-

Haynes has scored 1919 runs in 85 matches for Sydney Thunder with the highest score of 78. She said she is happy to be back in Lime Green.

“It was difficult not to play the WBBL last season for a variety of reasons and I can’t wait to be back there and represent the Thunder Nation,” Haynes said.

“We have such an exciting group of talented young players who provide plenty of energy and I look forward to seeing how far they have come in the year I was away from the team.

This club means a lot more to me than just the results on the field and the chance to get back out and connect with our community is something I look forward to.”

Sydney Thunder’s WBBL List Manager and club legend Alex Blackwell said: “Rach is an integral part of Sydney Thunder.

Clearly, she is an elite player on the field and has become one of the most sought after batsmen and leaders in world cricket.
