Kohli has been given a short break with one game to spare after India’s T20I series win over West Indies in Kolkata. Kohli is not playing the upcoming three SL T20Is. Which is starting on February 24 in Lucknow as he is also likely to be rested .

Kohli’s brilliant innings of 52 runs :-

Virat Kohli left the Indian camp in Kolkata in the early hours of Saturday. Kohli scored a brilliant 52 to give India a final over win and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Baba Cric understands that the decision to rest Kohli is part of a policy .That is being put in place to ensure that periodic breaks are given to all formats on a regular basis.

Kohli, especially at this juncture, has been given a break. It is just to ensure that he is fresh for the post-T20I series against SL T20Is.

Virat Kohli will play the 100th Test match on March 4 :-

Kohli has played 99 Test matches . On March 4 , he will play his 100th Test in . Earlier, he had missed the Johannesburg Test in South Africa because of back spasm.

Kohli has underscored the need to ensure the workload and mental health of players . As the teams move from bubble to bubble. Last year, he called for administrators to reconsider the length of trips as to make bio-bubble life for sustainability .

Virat Kohli’s thoughts:-

He said “These things have to consider,”. “Like how long will a tournament or series be and what will be the impact on the players of mentally being in the same environment for 80 days and not doing anything different”.

“Or is there a place to just go and see family or little things like that. These things have to thought about seriously”. At the end of the day, you want the players to be in their best shape mentally, Based on how they feel. Those conversations should be regular.”

Kohli got rest after a four-month-long hiatus after playing the first New Zealand T20I and the first Test in November. Starting with the tour of England and ending with the T20 World Cup in October-November. This was the second installment of the IPL in the UAE.
