The new selection committee of BCCI may be announced in the first week of January. Chetan Sharma can once again become the chairman of the selection committee. The Cricket Advisory Committee consisting of Ashok Malhotra, Sulakshana Naik and Jatin Pranjpe has to elect the new selection committee. The three members of the Cricket Advisory Committee will meet on December 30 in Mumbai. After this, the new selection committee can be announced by the first week of January.

Chetan doesn’t have a chance, so why would he apply?
Apart from Chetan Sharma, Harvinder Singh can also become a member of the selection committee again. A BCCI source said, “Chetan Sharma has a good chance of retaining his place either as president or at least as the North Zone representative. The truth is that BCCI is not getting any top names. It’s not that no one has raised their voice. If Chetan didn’t have the chance, why would he have applied? Some assurances must given. That’s why he applied a second time.”

The formation of the selection committee may take some more time. The team may be selected in the first week of January 2023. The team for the series against Sri Lanka already announced. In such a situation, there is no need of the selection committee at present.
The members of the CAC insisted that the interview of the people who applied for the selection committee done by calling them to the office instead of online interview. Only after this the selection committee will formed.
