Cloud tests positive for COVID-19 on the PAK-WI series Five more members of the West Indies tour party have tested positive for COVID-19 in the latest round of testing.

The Limited-Overs Series :-

Casting a cloud over the remainder of the limited-overs series against Pak, which still has one T20I (December 16) and three ODIs. who has left to play?

Those who gave a positive test verdict include team physician Dr. Akshay Mansingh, assistant coach Roddy Estwick and players Shai Hope, Akil Hossein, and Justin Greaves. The total number of positive cases in the West Indies camp since his arrival in the West Indies has gone up to nine.

The All Five-Man West Indies Team :-

“Therefore all three players will miss the upcoming matches and all five persons will remain isolated from the rest of the West Indies squad and are now under observation and monitoring provided by the medical authorities.

They will be in isolation for ten (10) days. Or till they return the verdict of negative PCR test,” said a Cricket West Indies report.

Cottrell, Chase, and Meyers returned positive verdicts in preliminary tests conducted after the team’s debut in Karachi on 9 December. The trio missed out on both the T20Is played so far, in which Pakistan won the series 2-0. Apart from winning both, the third T20I is to be held on Thursday, 16 December.

A Dropped Out Due To Covid-19 :-

Apart from a total of six players now ruled out due to Covid-19, West Indies also ruled out Devon Thomas with a finger injury in the opening T20I.

The WI were already without many of their senior players for the tour, with either Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Shimron Hetmyer, and none of Jason Holder, Evin Lewis, or Fabian Allen receiving rest, injuries, or personal reasons.

“The CWI and PCB officials will meet on Thursday morning, once all members of the visiting party have been re-examined, to determine whether the tour can continue.”
