Aakash Chopra has Picked Yuzvendra Chahal For Team India in The 3rd T20I

Aakash Chopra has picked Yuzvendra Chahal’s inability to pick up wickets as one of the concerns for Team India in the third T20I against South Africa apart from being costly.

A Took just one wicket in two T20 Internationals:-

Chahal has so far taken just one wicket in two T20Is against the Proteas. The shrewd leg-spinner has conceded 75 runs in the 6.1 overs bowled so far in the series.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra reflected on some of the pain points for Team India in the series so far. He said the following about Chahal:

“The biggest worry is India is not taking enough wickets in the middle overs. Yuzvendra Chahal is our seasoned customer, we all said it was a huge injustice when he was not picked for the World Cup. But the fact is that he has conceded a lot of runs in this series.

Bhuvneshwar gives early success to Team India:-

Noting that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has given Team India early successes, the cricketer-turned-commentator said that the spinners have been let down. Aakash Chopra elaborates:

“The start is still good, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took wickets, but we have taken just two wickets in the middle overs. It also tells you that our spin hasn’t worked at all.

Yuji Chahal has taken a wicket, and Axar Patel has taken it. We have taken a wicket, we haven’t bowled really well. There is no power in the middle overs.”

“Caches right win matches. You’d be surprised to hear that we’re dropping one out of every four catches. So when you drop catches, you can’t win the match, that’s for sure.”

Heinrich Klaasen dropped a hard catch:-

Shreyas Iyer put down an easy offer from Rassie van der Dussen in the first game, which proved too costly in the end. Ravi Bishnoi dropped a hard catch from Heinrich Klaasen in the second match, but by then the game was almost sealed in favor of the visitors.

Aakash Chopra picked Shreyas Iyer’s struggle against the Proteas pacers as another concern for Team India. he explained:

“Shreyas (Iyer) is struggling a bit against pace, that’s another issue that needs to be addressed. It’s the elephant in the room the man is scoring runs.

So don’t talk about that but the truth is that if you have to go ahead you can’t just hit against the spin, you have to do it against the pace as well.”

Shreyas has so far scored 76 runs in two T20 matches. However, most of his attacking shots have come against the spinners and he has been kept on a tight leash by the South African fast bowlers.
