Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner named To Lead Governor-General’s XI for their 50-over match against Pakistan.

The Governor-General’s XI match is back tomorrow, and Ashleigh Gardner will have the opportunity to test his leadership abilities against an international side.

Ashley Gardner will have the opportunity to test his leadership credentials against an international team with the all-rounder named captain of the Governor-General’s XI to play Pakistan in a 50-over match on Friday.

The Governor-General’s XI match – inspired by the annual Prime Minister’s XI game – is a traditional fixture in the calendar and returns for the first time since the pandemic some of Australia’s best young and experienced talent against a touring team.

The 25-year-old played his part in the middle order during Australia’s recent T20I series win against India and was named Player of the Series after scoring 115 runs at a strike rate of 166.6. Took wickets at an average of 18.28.

The Governor-General’s XI match will begin at 10:05 AM local Brisbane time on 13 January at Allan Border Field with free admission for fans. It will also be broadcast live on Fox Cricket via Foxtel and Kayo.
