The series starts on 9th May. All three matches will be played in Chelmsford, UK, a venue chosen by Cricket Ireland keeping in mind the possibility of wet weather in Ireland.
Bangladesh landed in the UK on 1 May, but were able to enter the match venues on 8 May. As Chelmsford was hosting a County Championship game between Essex and Surrey from 4 to 7 May, Bangladesh had to look at the venue a day in advance.
If we had known, we would not have agreed to it
After arriving on 1 May, two training sessions took place in Cambridge, Bangladesh. Their practice match was washed out. He did little indoor training due to the wet outfield.
When asked about his preparation on Monday, Hathurusinghe said – Preparation is a unique situation. We are playing in England.
So it usually doesn’t happen very often. I can’t blame anyone. this is the first time.
If we had known this to be the case, we would not have agreed to such a program. This is not ideal preparation. I won’t blame anyone. We’ll learn from it.
This type of situation will not happen in India:-
Hathurusinghe said that we are not going to play in such conditions in India. Still focused on winning in these circumstances. Bangladesh players and coaching staff got their first look at the Chelmsford pitch.
Hathurusinghe said- The wicket is very good, grass above, but hard below. It was undercover for the last few days due to rain. Till yesterday there was also a county match here.
Mehidy Hasan is happy with Miraj’s batting:-
Hathurusinghe said the emergence of Mehidy Hasan Miraj in batting form was helping Bangladesh achieve better balance as a team.
He is a genuine batsman with a Test and ODI hundred. We can consider him as an all-rounder.
