Asia Cup 2023: The BCCI Rejected PCB’s Asia Cup 2023 Hybrid Model. Said- play in Sri Lanka or leave Asia Cup 2023 There is every possibility of being played without Pakistan.

Pakistan Cricket Board succeeded in persuading other Asian countries:-

The reason is that the Board of Control for Cricket in India ie BCCI is ready to step in. The BCCI is in no mood to relent while the Pakistan Cricket Board has managed to persuade other Asian nations.

While BCCI secretary Jai Shah is planning to hold the Asia Cup without Pakistan captained by Babar Azam. However, there is still time to take a final decision which could be taken this week.

Pakistan Cricket Board chief Najam Sethi will be given a clear message:-

With strong ties between the BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket, the Indian board has vetoed the PCB’s efforts and wants the tournament to take place in Sri Lanka. A clear message will be given to Pakistan Cricket Board chief Najam Sethi in the next ACC meeting.

A senior BCCI official told Sport, “It is highly unlikely that Pakistan will host the Asia Cup.

We will also take it to the ICC so that the Champions Trophy can also be taken out. For now, Sri Lanka is likely to host the tournament. But the final decision will be taken in the ACC meeting itself.

What is PCB’s Asia Cup 2023 hybrid model?

  • In the new hybrid model, the tournament will be played in two parts.
  • In the first phase, Pakistan will host Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Nepal.
  • India’s matches in the second leg will be at neutral venues.
  • Sri Lanka is the preferred venue as India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are opposing UAE due to the heat.
  • Even if India fails to qualify, the neutral venue will host the final.
  • Once the ACC officially announces the hybrid model, the schedule will be announced in late June.

  • “If the government says that we can play in India for the World Cup despite India not touring Pakistan for the Asia Cup, we will be ready for it,” Pakistan Cricket Board chief Najam Sethi told The Telegraph.
