The Major Contributor To BCCI’s Huge Earnings:-

This information has come out from the recently published financial documents. IPL, the world’s biggest T20 league tournament, has been the major contributor to the huge earnings of BCCI, which is included in the world’s richest sports organizations.

Since its inception in 2008, IPL has not only made several players millionaires but has also earned BCCI billions of rupees through media rights.

This tremendous success of the IPL has inspired many major cricket-playing countries of the world to form similar T20 leagues.

According to an AFP report, according to the earnings information for the last five years (2021-22) made public on the BCCI website, by April 2022, the Indian cricket board had made a profit of Rs 320 billion.

According to this report, in the IPL held in 2022, the BCCI received a total revenue of $ 771 million.

It Grossed $292 Million After Spending $479 Million:-

Out of which $292 million was earning after spending $479 million. These figures were confirming through an audit of accounting data.

A former anti-corruption advisor criticized BCCI for not disclosing earnings. The BCCI has in the past refrained from disclosing its earnings figures extensively.

Prior to this latest report, the BCCI had not given any detailed information about its financial position since 2017.

Neeraj Kumar, who was the BCCI’s anti-corruption advisor, has published a book this year giving information about the board.

Neeraj Kumar, in an interview with the Australian media in June last year, criticized the BCCI for keeping its earnings information confidential.

In An Interview Given To Morning Herald, Neeraj Had Said:-

In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Neeraj said, “It is a matter of great regret that we are so rich and so much money is giving to our states (cricket associations) and never accounted for.”

BCCI sold broadcast and digital streaming rights for IPL 2023-27 last year for more than Rs 48 thousand crores.

Big broadcasters like Disney and Viacom of America were among those who bought IPL media rights.

This amount received for IPL media rights is about two and a half times more than the five-year IPL media rights.
