Made a great comeback and took 5 wickets:-
The Australian team, which came out to bat first, could only score 177 runs. Ravindra Jadeja returned brilliantly after injury and took 5 wickets.

Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj got one wicket each. However, before the match, many questions were raised about the Nagpur pitch.
Australian media accused India of tampering with the pitch. This discussion kept echoing even after the start of the first test. The issue was hotly debated not only off the field but also in the commentary box.

An argument was heard in the commentary box between former Australia batsman Mark Waugh and India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik. The debate started when Dinesh Karthik said- “I think India will bat only once in a Test match.”
To this Mark Waugh said- “We will see about that DK.” Then Dinesh Karthik said- “Mark my words.” On this Mark Waugh said- “What time is it, it is five minutes past three.

Indian Test batsmen not as good as Australian batsmen:-
Then Mark Waugh said- “All I am saying is that no pitch should be judged until two sides are batting.
