ICC ODI WC 2023: Kapil Dev along with his wife filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. Captain Kapil Dev, who won India’s first World Cup, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court for strict laws on cruelty to animals.

Some Provisions Of The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals Act:-

He along with his wife have filed a petition challenging some provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

According to the report, the provisions that Kapil Dev has challenged include keeping stray dogs in lethal chambers and allowing the killing or killing of any animal under the authority of any law.

The Listed For Hearing Of Petition On October 13:-

The High Court listed the petition for hearing on October 13. The petition came up for hearing before a bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjiv Narula. Which gave time to the counsel for the petitioners to place certain decisions on record.

Petitioner Kapil Dev, his wife Romi Dev, and animal rights activist Anjali Gopalan said the petition is being filed due to repeated incidents of barbaric treatment of animals. Which is “the cruelest face of humanity” and “completely Weaker than”.

This is Without Any Restriction And Clearly Arbitrary:-

The petition challenges Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, Saying it is without any strings attached and clearly arbitrary as it trivializes life.
