He was battling his poor form for a long time:-

India tour of Zimbabwe: Significantly, Kohli is currently on leave, as he was battling his poor form for a long time, due to which he was rested.

At the same time, Kohli had disappointed everyone with his performance on the recent England tour as well. During this, he did not score more than 20 runs in any format.

After resting for the series against West Indies, the Zimbabwe series could have been the perfect opportunity for the Indian talisman to have some runs under his belt.

While a break will certainly be refreshing for the former India captain, his form is adding to India’s woes ahead of the T20 World Cup and the Asia Cup 2022.

His game is best suited for the ODI format:-

India tour of Zimbabwe: Though Kohli has failed to perform in both the matches against England, his game is best suited for the ODI format and his form can reign.

Zimbabwe could only have been his best support. Zimbabwe’s bowling attack is not world-class and the innings that Kohli is looking for are on the way.

Even in-form Sourav Ganguly toured Zimbabwe and scored a century but the 33-year-old continued to spend time with his young family in Europe.

Kohli spent some time in London after the England series before making a short trip to Paris. The former India captain will travel to the United Arab Emirates to participate in the upcoming Asia Cup.
