IPL 2021: BCCI AGM likely to take 3 major decisions on the 14th edition of IPL

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold it’s 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 24.

This meeting will be extremely clinical in deciding the fate of IPL 2021 edition and its whereabouts.

While there are a number of points for the agenda. There are 3 major developments surrounding IPL 2021 that are expected to be finalized.

According to the agenda of the December 24 AGM, there is a probability of the addition of new teams. “Approval on inclusion of 2 (two) new teams to the Indian Premier League” was listed on the agenda as reported by InsideSport earlier.

The proposal to increase two teams for the Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL 2021) will be formally floated for the approval of the house in the AGM on Dec 24th.

In case BCCI AGM agrees to the introduction of new IPL teams from IPL 2021. Ahmedabad city is almost certain to be included in the IPL franchise city list.

The names of Lucknow / Kanpur, Pune will come for discussion if the BCCI AGM decides to increase more than 1 team for IPL 2021 or IPL 2022.

President Sourav Ganguly earlier in November said that they are trying to bring back IPL to the country. However, BCCI will assess the situation before taking a final decision.

The BCCI usually does give a small break to its players before the congested Indian Premier League matches starts.

India’s apex cricketing body is expected to give the players a 2-week layoff before they schedule the first match of the IPL 2021.
