Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma raised Rs 11 crore for Covid relief
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have raised about 11 crores in their fundraising campaign to support Covid-19 relief operations in India. Virat and Anushka have given 2 crore rupees in this campaign themselves. The funds raised through the Campaign will be donated to Act Grants to give relief to Covid-19.
The target was to raise Rs 7 crore through the campaign, but before two days left, more than Rs 11 crore has been received. MPL Sports Foundation, part of gaming company MPL, has also donated 5 crores. It has been said in the press release that the campaign has received a tremendous response from the people.
At the time of the campaign’s launch, Virat-Anushka shared a video on social media platform Instagram, writing, “As our country is fighting the second wave of Covid-19, and our health system is facing all the challenges.” My heart is sad to see people in this condition. So Virat and I have started a campaign #InThisTogether with Ketto to raise funds for Covid-19 relief. Together we will overcome this crisis. Please come forward to support India and Indians. Your contribution will help save the lives of people during this critical time.
Australian men and women cricketers recently came forward to help India in the fight against Corona and appealed to the people of their country to donate to UNICEF Australia. In a one-minute video post on Twitter by UNICEF Australia, many top Australian players including Allan Border said that the situation in India is heartbreaking and we all have to unite in this difficult time.
In addition to the border are Pat Cummins, Brett Lee, Alex Blackwell, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Mike Hussey, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Ellyse Perry, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, and Rachael Haynes. Praising the move
