LPL 2022: The Lanka Premier League has been postponed due to the current economic crisis in Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced on Sunday. The tournament was scheduled to take place from August 1-22, 2022.

SLC said in a statement:-

“Sri Lanka Cricket would like to announce that the Sri Lankan Premier League, scheduled to be held from August 1 to August 21, 2022, has been suspended with immediate effect,” the SLC said in a statement on its website.

The SLC said that the tournament’s rights holder, Innovative Production Group FZE, was state that it was not the right time to organizing the tournament citing the country’s economic condition, following which the cricket board took the decision.

The Foreign Players were considering safe:-

A draft was held, foreign players were considering safe, and preparations were underway to organizing the tournament.

However, it will be postponing due to problems securing sufficient sponsorship and cooling off franchise interests.

Whether the economic crisis of Sri Lanka subsides or not:-

Whether it will be playing this year or not depends on whether Sri Lanka’s economic crisis eases or not.

The decision was taking by SLC following a request made by Innovative Production Group FZE (IPG), the tournament’s rights-holder.
