LPL 2023: Chaminda revealed why Babar Azam is not captaining in Lanka Premier League. Pakistan captain Babar Azam is seen playing in the Lanka Premier League these days.
He is opening for Colombo Strikers. However, seeing Babar playing, there was a question in the mind of the fans why he is not captaining the team.
Now Chaminda Vaas, the bowling coach of Colombo Strikers has revealed this fact. Vaas said in an interview that Babar just wanted to focus on his batting. The team management respects this decision.

Babar Azam did not want to captain:-
Azam did not want to lead the strikers so the management named Niroshan Dickwella as the captain. Babar just wanted to play as a batsman and we respected his decision.
Niroshan Dickwella is our captain. If you take Babar Azam, we all know that he is the number one batsman in the world.
The way Babar performs and contributes to the team, is amazing and great.
Young players will get a chance to learn from Babar:-
Vaas further said that the young players in the team will get a chance to learn from Babar. The youth can learn a lot from him.
I am excited to see him play in the Lanka Premier League. Apart from him, Pakistan’s bowler Naseem Shah is also there.
In the last match, Babar Azam got the Player of the Match award for his brilliant innings of 59 runs. His team registered their first win in the tournament on Monday by 27 runs.
He stayed on the field despite challenging circumstances:-
Captain Dickwella looked impressed by Babar’s performance as he stayed on the field despite the challenging conditions.
