The Marylebone Cricket Club has said that no bowler can be called a villain for running out a batsman standing ahead of his crease in an attempt to steal runs at the non-striker’s end.
The World Cricket Committee of the MCC does not consider the rule of dismissing a batsman who walks out of the crease before the completion of the bowling action of the non-striker bowler against the spirit of the game.
The World Cricket Committee said this in an attempt to normalize the method of dismissals in all age group level cricket.
The WCS has also called for restraint on this issue. Because some former cricketers still believe that it is against the spirit of the game to run out a batsman like this, while the ICC has made a rule that it will be considered run out.
MCC Support Mankad: The MCC, which makes the rules of the game, has issued a clarification regarding the rule after the incident of Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa trying to run out Tom Rogers standing at the non-striker’s end in a Big Bash League match last month.
Changes were made to the wording of Rule 38.3 for better clarity and to remove misconceptions. Whereas in WCC there are veteran players like Kumar Sangakkara, Sourav Ganguly, Justin Langer, and Alastair Cook whose chairman is Mike Gatting.
On Thursday, the MCC said in a statement that the most important thing is that all kinds of doubts and controversies should be put to an end in a simple way on the manner of such dismissals.
The player standing at the non-strike end, obeying the rules, remains there until the bowler bowls the ball. Earlier, there has been criticism of bowlers who have mankad many times.
The batsman who stands ahead of his place at the crease in violation of the Laws of the game, while agreeing to this opinion by the members of the committee, is guilty.
MCC Support Mankad: Also the statement said that, they also agreed that the bowlers should not give any warning to the batsman.
From which it is clear that he has the authority to dismiss the batsman breaking the rules at the same time.
