Ashes Series 2023: Moeen Ali Fined 25 Percent Of His Match Fee For Flouting ICC Rules. The first Ashes Test is being played between England and Australia.

Ali was found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct:-

The ICC issued a statement saying that England all-rounder Moeen Ali has been found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. Ali has been fined 25 percent of his match fee.

Moeen Ali was fined for breaching Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct. It is concerned with displaying conduct contrary to the spirit of the game.

This was Ali’s first offense in the last 2 years:-

One demerit point has been added to Moeen’s disciplinary record for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct. This was Ali’s first offense in the last two years.

The incident had earlier happened during the 89th over of Australia’s first innings when Moeen was seen applying drying agent on his bowling hand at the boundary line while fielding.

Moeen admitted the offense and accepted the punishment proposed by Andy Pycroft of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first:-

The first Test of the Ashes series began on 16 June. England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first.

Jack Crowley scored 61 runs. Joe Root scored the highest 118 runs for England. Ben Stokes got out after scoring 1 run. England had declared the first innings at 393 runs. Now Australia’s first innings continue.
