ODI World Cup 2023: The Former Australia captain told Ben Stokes to be arrogant. Tim Paine has called Ben Stokes’ move to return to ODI cricket ahead of the Cricket World Cup in India later this year as a selfish decision.

No respect for the Player Who Lost His Place on The Team:-

Paine questioned Stokes’ return from ODI retirement, saying there is no respect for a player who loses his place in the team. Penn is hinting at keeping Harry Brook out.

Ben Stokes retired from ODIs in 2022 due to concerns about excessive workload and an old left knee injury.

However, later, just before the World Cup 2023, he has decided to withdraw the decision.

While this decision of Stokes has been welcomed by the veterans of England, former Australia captain Tim Paine has fumed over it.

Questions arising on Harry Brook’s exit:-

While Stokes’ return is being celebrated, questions have been raised over Harry Brook’s exclusion from the ODI squad.

Brook, who had shown promise in his only ODI series in South Africa, missed out on the provisional World Cup squad.

Tim Paine told SEN Radio that ‘Ben Stokes is understanding that only I am everything. It is like I will decide when and where I want to play.

I will play only in big tournaments. Sorry and thank you to the players who have been playing for 12 months. Can you sit on the bench now?

England will play 4 ODIs against South Africa and 3 ODIs against Ireland in September before traveling to India for the World Cup starting on 5 October. Ben Stokes has been included in the announced team for this.
