Pakistan captain Babar Azam scored a brilliant century in the Galle Test. Azam showed great determination as his team’s one-man army on the second day of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium.
Babar counterattacked the bowlers from the other end:-
While Sri Lanka was cleaning the Pakistani tail, Babar held firm from the other end and counterattacked the bowlers to ensure that the visitors did not fall short of their first innings losses despite being so close.

Even tail-ender Naseem Shah extended good support to his captain as he did not allow the Sri Lankan bowlers to defend himself
Continued to stop and release balls without trying to get off the mark on strike.
This support played a vital role in helping Babar complete his seventh Test century and keeping Pakistan’s first innings hopes alive.
The Battle century of Babar Azam:-
When Hasan Ali was dismissed in the 60th over, Pakistan’s scorecard was 148/9 and they were still trailing by 74 runs with only Naseem Shah left.
Taking care of things was a tough task for Babar Azam. Nonetheless, the batting superstar accepted the challenge and faced the Sri Lankan bowlers with fearless intent.
He was a bit defensive initially, but didn’t waste any scoring chances and kept. The scoreboard ticket from when he reached 80.
When he was on 90, Azam played an inside shot off Prabhat Jayasuriya, giving him four valuable runs. It was a risky shot that was well rewarded in the end.
The Pakistan captain took a single and remained unbeaten on 95 going into the tea break. It was indeed an eventful day for Babar Azam who broke another unique record on an opening day.
The Fastest Asian batsman to score 10000 international runs:-
He surpassed batting megastar Virat Kohli to become the fastest Asian batsman to score 10000 international runs.
While it took 232 innings for Kohli to achieve the feat, Babar achieved it in just 228.

When the game resumed after tea, an attacking zone was placing for Babar Azam. With the bowling of spinner Mahesh Thekshana.
Azam, however, was street smart on the occasion as he first dodged Thikshana for four runs between long. And deep mid-wicket before taking a single off the next ball to complete his century.
