Bangladesh’s T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan has stressed the importance of gradual improvement in the shortest format instead of emphasizing immediate results. Bangladesh on Tuesday (August 23) departed after winning only two of the 13 matches played since the last edition of the World Cup after a prolonged failure in the shortest format to play in the Asia Cup.

The board opted to make a fresh start in T20s and the alleged change of cards to a new one resulted in Shakib’s appointment as captain. Shakib revealed that BCB president Nazmul Hasan had pressured him to become the captain, but added that he is now motivated to do well.

“These are both challenges (leading Test and Bangladesh’s T20) and the board felt that I was the best option. Maybe that’s why they picked me (for the leadership) for both formats. It is difficult to answer (Will I take the lead) for both formats? Was ready a) whether it is good enough or motivated enough to lead the team) but I am motivated enough now. I will try to use my experience to help the team perform well,” said Shakib.

However, the veteran all-rounder insisted that Bangladesh’s T20 transformation will involve a steady process and his team will not be judged in the Asia Cup starting later this week.

“It is difficult for us (thinking about the final). We have to play well in these two matches.

“I believe there are not too many expectations in T20. We have never had a good record in this format. It has never been consistent. All you have to do is focus and invest in T20s. Eventually, in the next five to ten years, it will be the most popular format said.

Along with Shakib, BCB has also opted for a fresh start in the shortest format

Along with Shakib, BCB has also opted for a fresh start in the shortest format and appointed Sridharan Sriram as the technical director for T20s. The former Indian cricketer-coach will be making all the plans for the upcoming Asia Cup as Russell Domingo from the set-up.

He said, “We have a new coach. Everyone will have their own opinion but we should have a goal when we come out of the dressing room. It’s not like everyone has to believe in the goal, but we have to fully support it.” is,” he said. ,

“I cannot deny that it (restart) shows (failure of Bangladesh cricket). We cannot be sure that this is the last time we hear of a fresh start. But if we don’t try So we’ll never know if it’s possible. We had to start something at some point. Better if it happens now.

Shakib concluded by saying that the intention of him and the management is to instill confidence in the players and assure them that in the event of one or two failures, their place in the team is not in jeopardy.

“We have to make players believe that they can contribute to the team leaving the fear of losing their place. A new player always has the fear of failure. The fear is very realistic for a new player. It is nothing unusual. It is present in every profession.”
