The Sri Lankan team led by Dimuth Karunaratne achieved this feat on the fourth day of the Test match thanks to Dinesh Chandimal’s double century.

The wicketkeeper-batsman played an impressive innings to remain unbeaten on 206 as Sri Lanka was reduced to 554 runs.

A target of 190 runs has been set for Australia:-

Sri Lanka has set a target of 190 for Australia, who won the first Test by 10 wickets at the same venue last week.

Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis missed their respective centuries, while Angelo Mathews and Kamindu Mendis scored half-centuries each in Sri Lanka’s first batting innings.

Karunaratne and Mendis scored 86 and 85 before Mitchell Swepson and Nathan Lyon removed them in the space of about 10 overs.

The Managed to reach 500 runs in the longest format:-

The second Test match between Sri Lanka and Australia marks Kamindu’s Test debut for the island nation. The second time Sri Lanka managed to reach 500 runs in the longest format was against Australia in 1992.

The Sri Lankan team led by the then Arjuna Ranatunga declared 547 runs for the loss of eight wickets. However, the team still lost the match to Allan Border’s Australia by 16 runs.

The Sri Lanka team in 1992 scored three centuries in their first batting innings – Arjuna Ranatunga (127), Asanka Gurusingh (137), and Romesh Kaluwitharana (132*).

However, in the second innings, Sri Lanka collapsed in front of Greg Matthews and Shane Warne. And the island nation was reduced to just 164 runs.
