Sri Lanka Women’s Captain Chamari Athapaththu To Return To Melbourne Renegades (WBBL)

Sri Lanka women’s captain Chamari Athapaththu will return to Melbourne Renegades. Athapaththu will return to the Melbourne Renegades as a replacement player for the rest of the WBBL after India captain Harmanpreet Kaur is dropped.

Lost the Player of the tournament Last Year:-

The Renegades lost their player of the tournament last year due to a back injury following India’s Asia Cup win.

The Renegades signed English batsman Eve Jones as a short-term replacement, but have added Athapaththu as an experienced batting substitute.

A Played for the club for the first time in WBBL 03:-

The Sri Lanka captain returns for her third season at the Renegades, having first played for the club in WBBL 03. She was part of the Perth Scorchers’ title-winning team last season.

He played 10 games and scored 182 runs at 30.33 before going on to international duty. She missed the winning final of the Scorchers.

Renegades general manager James Rosengarten said:-

Athapaththu is setting to join the Renegades after their next match against the Adelaide Strikers. Renegades general manager James Rosengarten said Athapaththu was an obvious choice after losing Harmanpreet.

“In the absence of Harmanpreet, we need to add one more attacking player to our batting line-up and Chamari is the perfect fit,” Rosengarten said.

“She brings a wealth of experience at the international level and is a player who is able to take the game away from the opposition quickly.
