He has completed 6000 runs in test matches. He has become the sixth Sri Lankan player to achieve such a feat. Sri Lanka has taken a lead of 444 runs till the lunch break on the fourth day of the Galle Test. He still has 3 wickets left.

Interestingly, in the Test match being played in Galle, Sri Lanka scored 378 runs in the first innings. During this, Chandimal played an innings of 80 runs. While Dickwella contributed 51 runs.
