T20 WC 2022: The Latest update on England captain Jos Buttler’s recovery from a calf injury, England coach Matthew Mott says he will not take any risk with injured skipper Jos Buttler nearing the start of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Butler is still battling a calf injury he picked up while playing domestic cricket in England and the star right-arm star has not made any international appearances since playing against South Africa in a T20I in Southampton in late July. Have not played cricket.

The 32-year-old has missed the opening four matches of England’s seven-match T20I series against Pakistan and Mott said there is no guarantee that the captain will see any action in the last three matches.
“With regards to Jose, he’s still away for a while,” Mott said.
“He’s not a player we want to risk at this stage, so the (T20) World Cup is close, and it was a pretty significant injury.
“He’s winning a bit for a game but we’ll just try and see how we go. Maybe in the last game or two, he might be a chance.”
Buttler’s availability for the T20 World Cup will be crucial to England’s fortunes, with the in-form opener finishing last year’s fourth-leading run-scorer.
He then led all players in this year’s IPL tournament when he scored four centuries and 863 runs for Rajasthan Royals and England will be hoping to replicate that kind of form in Australia.
Although Buttler may not feature in England’s remaining three matches against Pakistan in Karachi, Mott’s side has four more practice matches in Australia ahead of their opening T20 World Cup match in which their captain could potentially play.
While England missed out on a golden opportunity to lead 3-1 in their series. With Pakistan when they lost by three runs to the Asian side on Sunday.
Mott said his team is facing a high-pressure game against quality opposition. Will definitely help them in the long run.
“We couldn’t have asked for better preparation than a game like tonight (Sunday against Pakistan). Where there are few overs left and the players are under pressure,” he added.
“To play in high-pressure situations in front of a big crowd that was right in the game (is fantastic).
