BCCI Media Rights Auction: The BCCI’s Media Rights To Be Auctioned Today, Between Sony, Star, and Viacom18. Disney Star, Viacom18, and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) are the three bidders.

BCCI media rights for matches:-

BCCI media rights for bilateral cricket matches played in India (Team India Bilateral Series Media Rights) during the next five years will be auctioned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday, August 31.

The rights will be selling in two packages, with Package A comprising India Subcontinent TV, while Package B comprising India Subcontinent Digital plus World TV and Digital.

The base price for Package A is Rs 20 crore and for Package B is Rs 25 crore, making a combined base price of Rs 45 crore per game for a total of 88 matches.

The winning bid of Rs 6138.1 crore was made for the Period:-

In 2018, Star Sports India had placed the winning bid of Rs 6138.1 crore for the period 2018 to 2023 for both TV and digital platforms. which was an average of around Rs 60.1 crore per game.

Sony Sports Network now has the TV rights of the ICC World Cup. For the next four years starting from 2024, secured through its merger with Zee.

This includes 25 Tests, 27 ODIs and 36 T20s. There are 21 matches against Australia, 18 against England, and 10 against South Africa. And 11 against New Zealand among the major nations.

BCCI IPL for 2023-27 cycle:-

BCCI had earned Rs 48,390 crore by selling IPL (Indian Premier League) rights for the 2023-27 cycle.

Disney Star had paid Rs 23,575 crore for TV rights. And Viacom18 had paid Rs 23,757 crore for digital rights to the board.

There have been reports that Disney intends to sell its India business, but they may make a surprise on Thursday.

But Sony is expecting to bid aggressively for TV, as it has not won any major event since buying the IPL rights in 2008 before launching it in 2017.
