Further complicating matters is the fact that all-rounder Kyle Mayers (shoulder) will only play as a batsman if the Windies’ bowling depth is short, with one of their injured squad exacerbating their issues.
Pacer Phillip Anderson will be the tourists’ first choice but if Seals and Roach are ruled out, the 27-year-old Mindley will be called up.
“We haven’t had great success in limited-overs cricket over the years, but the talent is always there.
The Former Test keeper rules out any chance of third
“What we do on the ground to harness and advance that talent will get us back to where we should have been.”
Simmons’ current stint is his second in charge of the West Indies but the former Test keeper ruled out any chance of a third.
“That’s enough for me,” he said.
“I would like to spend more time with my family at home. An international stint can be ruled out for now.
“I’m not retired yet. My kids keep calling it semi-retired. I’ll continue coaching and whatever else comes of me.”
