WIPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore to buy women’s IPL team after men’s IPL. Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team will join the five women’s IPL 2023 teams.

However, everything is not in RCB’s hands. The BCCI is ready to go back on its promise of giving the IPL franchise the first choice.
So, if RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) can outdo other interested parties, then only they can have a WIPL team.
A source close to RCB told Sports In: “We are fully interested in buying a women’s IPL team. We are watching some players closely in domestic and international matches.
Allow the first choice to IPL teams:-
Mike was present at the women’s T20 match to see some of the talents. But it is not in our hands. We cannot say for sure that we will have a WIPL team.
It is up to the BCCI and the IPL Apex Council whether they allow the first choice to IPL teams. We have to follow the procedure laid down by the BCCI.”
The BCCI last month approved a five-team WIPL instead of the six-team inaugural season at the AGM. The BCCI has finalized the 22-match format for the five-team tournament.
The top team will qualify for the final while the second and third-placed teams will play in the eliminator. However, the IPL Apex Council is yet to formally give a green signal to either the format or the schedule, or the model.
It will Depend on The Owners Of The Team:-
Teams will be randomly assigned instead of on the home base. It will be up to the team owners to choose their home base.
For example, if Mumbai Indians or Chennai Super Kings buy a franchise, they can choose Mumbai or Chennai as their home base. However, for the inaugural season at least, the tournament will be played in a caravan style.
A senior BCCI official told Sport, “We would like to have an unconventional IPL venue for the WIPL. However, you can’t expect huge crowds for women’s matches in every city.
