IND vs BAN, T20 WC: India head coach Rahul Dravid on Tuesday said that he and captain Rohit Sharma have fully supported KL Rahul for the past one year, which will continue in the T20 World Cup.
Rahul has been in poor form and has scored only 22 runs in three matches so far, but his place looks secure in the match against Bangladesh here on Wednesday.
Most questions about Rahul’s form asked to Rahul Dravid :-
Dravid was questioned the most about Rahul’s form before the match against Bangladesh. “In the last one year, Rohit Sharma and I have fully supported KL Rahul not only in words but also on the field,” he said.
Dravid was asked if Rahul’s form is a matter of concern, he said, “Not at all. I believe he is a great player and his record proves it. He has performed really well. He has batted brilliantly and that happens sometimes in T20 matches.

Dravid said, ‘The task is not easy for the top order batsmen in this tournament. He played a brilliant innings in the practice match against Australia. He did really well in front of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. Dravid made it clear that at least in this tournament, KL Rahul will not be dropped and expressed hope that he will do well in the next four matches.
“I am sure he will do well in the next three or four matches. We know about his skills which are suited to the conditions here.
Rahul Dravid counted the qualities of KL Rahul :-
The head coach also did not lag behind in enumerating Rahul’s qualifications in Australian conditions. Dravid said, ‘He is a brilliant batsman on the backfoot and in the conditions here such a batsman is needed.’
On Rahul’s criticisms, he said, “It is not difficult to support KL Rahul because we don’t pay attention to what people talk about outside. We have some idea in our mind and we trust our players.
Giving the example of Virat, Dravid supported Rahul :-
KL Rahul Dravid gave the example of Virat Kohli, how the media was lagging behind on his form. Dravid said, ‘Once Kohli has scored runs, you start looking at the other player. If KL Rahul scores runs now then you will see who will be the next player. It’s part of the job. I’m not insulting anyone but that’s the nature of professional sport.
