Today, along with men’s cricket, T20 is also the most popular in women’s cricket. After Australia, Caribbean countries, now India has also started the Women’s T20 League.
Women’s cricket has developed a lot after the arrival of T20, that is, in about 20 years, it has spread well, but the history of women’s cricket is very old. And the first recorded match was played about 250 years ago.
The first recorded match was played on 26 July 1745. This match took place between Bramley and Hambledon playing 11.
The first women’s cricket club was formed in Yorkshire in 1887. The foundation of the Women’s Cricket League was laid in 1894 in Australia.
The International Women’s Cricket Council was formed in 1958. In 2005 the IWCC (International Women’s Cricket Council) merged with the ICC (International Cricket Council).
Talking about international women’s cricket, the first Test match was played in 1934 between Australia and England. In the same year, New Zealand also formed its women’s team.
In 2007, the Netherlands women’s cricket team became the 10th country to field a women’s Test. Women’s ODI cricket started in 1973.
Today T20 cricket is played the most. The Women’s Premier League is also a T20 league. Women’s T20 cricket started with the Women’s Twenty20 International.
In 2006, a total of 4 matches were played under it, whereas in 2009, a total of 30 matches were played. That is, its trend has increased with time. The first Women’s T20 World Cup was organized in 2009.
WPL 2023: All matches of the tournament will be played in two stadiums: A total of 22 matches will be played in the Women’s Premier League, 11 matches will be played at DY Patil, and other 11 matches at Brabourne Stadium. The final match will be played on March 26 at Brabourne.
