Chennai Super Kings have given a big responsibility to their old player Faf du Plessis. He has made du Plessis the captain of his team Johannesburg Super Kings in Cricket South Africa’s T20 league. Former South Africa captain Du Plessis has been included in their team through direct signing by the franchise. At the same time, Stephen Fleming, coach of Chennai Super Kings will now play the role of coach in Johannesburg Super Kings.

Duplessis has played 100 matches for Chennai Super Kings. He was with the team from 2011 to 2015 and 2018 to 2021. He was not bought by Chennai in the IPL auction held in 2022. Du Plessis was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in their team and made him the captain. CSK have also included Moeen Ali in Johannesburg Super Kings. Moeen has been with CSK since 2021.

Stephen Fleming will be the head coach

The Johannesburg franchise has also included Sri Lankan off-spinner Mahish Teeksha, West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd and South African pacer Gerald Kotje. Apart from the players, many old players of Chennai Super Kings have been selected in the coaching staff. Stephen Fleming will be the head coach. At the same time, Eric Simmons has been made assistant coach.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, the franchise is also trying to add former South African all-rounder Albie Morkel to the team. He can be a coaching staff member. Morkel was a member of Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2013. He was instrumental in making the team IPL champions in 2010 and 2011.

Six franchises were given the right to choose five straight out of a list of 30 players. These included players like Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone. A team can hold up to 17 players. Apart from the five players, an auction will be held on September 20 to buy the remaining 12 players.
