CSK vs LSG: First Win of Chennai Over Lucknow in IPL, Rituraj Gaikwad and Moin Ali Became Heroes; 422 Runs Scored in the Match

Chennai Super Kings defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs at their home ground MA Chinderbam Stadium. This is the first win of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team in this season. He had to face defeat against Gujarat Titans in the last match. The Chennai team came to play on this ground after 2019. They made their homecoming memorable and defeated Lucknow in a thrilling match.

This is Chennai’s first win in IPL against Lucknow Supergiants. Earlier, the only match between the two teams was played last year. Then Lucknow got success. The Chennai team dominates its home ground. He has won 19 out of the last 22 matches on this ground. He has been defeated in only three matches.

Lucknow’s First Defeat in the Tournament

Lucknow captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bowl first. Chennai scored 217 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Lucknow team could only manage 205 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. A total of 422 runs were scored in the match. This is his first defeat in this tournament. In the last match, Lucknow defeated Delhi Capitals. The Chennai Super Kings team will now play against the arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 8. At the same time, Lucknow has to play against Sunrisers Hyderabad on their home ground on 7th April.

Lucknow Scored 80 Runs in Six Overs

Lucknow Super Giants got off to a great start chasing the target of 218 runs. He had scored 80 runs in the first six overs. Kyle Meyers played an inning of 53 runs off 22 balls. He hit eight fours and two sixes. He shared a 79-run partnership for the first wicket with captain KL Rahul. And he was dismissed on the third ball of the sixth over. After the dismissal of Meyers, Lucknow suffered setbacks at regular intervals. Due to this the team had to face defeat.

Nicholas Pooran Kept Hopes Alive

Nicholas Pooran played an inning of 32 runs off 18 balls. He hit two fours and three sixes. As long as Pooran was at the crease, it seemed that he would win the match for Lucknow. Lucknow’s hopes were almost over after he was dismissed on the last ball of the 16th over. Ayush Badoni scored 23 off 18 balls, Krishnappa Gautam scored 17 not out off 11 balls and Mark Wood scored 10 not out off three balls, but these players could not win the team. Marcus Stoinis scored 21 off 18 balls and captain KL Rahul scored 20 off 18 balls. Krunal Pandya nine and Deepak Hooda were dismissed after scoring two runs. Moin Ali took four wickets and Tushar Deshpande took two wickets for Chennai. Mitchell Santner gets a breakthrough.

Tushar Succeeded in Making an Impact

Tushar landed in this match as an impact player in place of Ambati Rayudu. He was also an impact player against Gujarat, but then he could not do much. In this match, after proving expensive in the first over, he came back and took two wickets and played a key role in helping Chennai win. He held himself in the last over and dismissed Ayush Badoni after Nicholas Pooran.

Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway get Chennai Super Kings Off to a Great Start

Earlier, Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway got Chennai Super Kings off to a great start. Rituraj scored a half-century in the second consecutive match. He played an inning of 57 runs off 31 balls. During this, Gaikwad hit three fours and four sixes. Apart from Rituraj, Devon Conway played an inning of 47 runs off 29 balls. He hit five fours and two sixes. Gaikwad and Conway put on 110 runs in 9.1 overs for the first wicket.

Dhoni’s 12 Runs Were Heavy on Lucknow

Ambati Rayudu remained unbeaten after scoring 27 runs off 14 balls. He hit two fours and two sixes. Shivam Dubey scored 27 runs off 16 balls. Moeen Ali contributed 19 runs off 13 balls. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni faced three balls. He hit two sixes in the first two balls. On the third ball, Mark Wood got him caught by Ayush Badoni. Dhoni’s strike rate was 400. Dhoni’s 12 runs overshadowed Lucknow in the end and this was the margin of victory. Ben Stokes was dismissed for eight and Ravindra Jadeja scored three runs. Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten after scoring one run. Mark Wood and Ravi Bishnoi took three wickets each. Avesh Khan got a breakthrough.
