CWG 2022: Indian women’s cricket team one step away from creating history

CWG 2022: The Indian women’s cricket team’s head coach Ramesh Powar hinted that the upcoming matches at the Commonwealth Games could see different combinations, saying ‘we are an emerging team’. India qualified for the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games by defeating Barbados by 100 runs.

Ramesh Powar, “Trying to get the best out of the team” :-

Jemima Rodrigues sent to bat at number three who played a crucial innings of 56 runs. Powar said on the eve of India’s semi-final against England, “We are an emerging team that will change processes and plans. Powar also said we are trying to get the best out of the team.

“We thought Jamie was up for it because she’s been playing in England for a while. We thought we would take the risk.” India fielded Tania Bhatia in place of Yastika Bhatia.

Ramesh Power told the secret of victory :-

Ramesh Powar said, “When you come to such a big tournament; you are ready with the players and all 15 players are available. This is not a bilateral series, where you try a player and see what he can do. It’s a big tournament and we want to use all the players we have.”

India are just one win away from securing a medal and Powar said the women’s players are highly inspired by long jumper Murali Sreeshankar‘s silver medal performance. Powar said, “It gave us goosebumps.

We were watching our player win a silver medal in the long jump, the guy was trying so hard. Our job is to try to perform as hard as him, he was our inspiration.
