Danushka Gunathilaka has retired from Test cricket at the age of 30, Sri Lanka Cricket has made public, approving that the batsman “will now focus on smaller documents”.

The update comes close on the heels of 30-year-old batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who announced. His determination to quit all international cricket.

Gunathilaka’s call to drop the longest document is not surprising. He has not played a Test since 2018, in which his eight appearances have given him 299 runs.
He had scored two half-centuries with a best of 61. However, his limited-overs career has been more lucrative.
In 44 ODIs, he has scored 1520 runs at an average of 36.19, while in T20Is. He has scored 568 runs in 30 matches at a strike rate of 121.62.
This Disciplinary Intent :-
Those numbers could have been a bit higher if it had not been for Danushka Gunathilaka’s frequent run-ins with the SLC on disciplinary grounds.
Since his international arrival at the end of 2015, Gunathilaka has served three separate adjournments, the latest of which came last year for neglecting the Bio Bubble Protocol.
With Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella – on a tour of England. It imposed a one-year ban on all three of them, which, however, was lifted yesterday, six months ago.
He was earlier suspended for breaking the team curfew and showing an apathetic attitude towards training.
The Remained In The National Frame :-
The fact that he remained in the national frame in addition to these violations speaks of the ability of the left-hander. He recently scored a popular half-century in the final of the Lanka Premier League, and he also scored the peak in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2020.

As far as Rajapaksa is concerned, he exemplified “family obligations” for his overthrow, ending his career a little more than two years later at the international level, in which he played five ODIs and 18 T20Is.
